Could have been a lot more "in-depth". Seemed that some of the most devastating battles of the Pacific were glazed over.
In his attempt to "Sanitize" his story, Sledge gives an unrealistic account of the way things transpired and communications occurred during the heat of battle, and even on a day to day basis with his fellow Marines. Perhaps the actual dialog was beneath his dignity or religious beliefs, but if he intends to tell the story he should tell it "as is" with the course dialog that actually happened, when it happened.
